Thanks to a tip from ~Zaxter, I just learned that Nintendo has announced a GS remake for the DS at this year's E3 conference!

_{In the wake of Halloween, Thanksgiving's coming up fast, with Christmas on its heels -- lots of celebrations, lots of family time and culture and... singing? Our Golden Sun crew doesn't get to showcase their talents often enough! Here's a chance to show the playwright in you:}

Golden Sun Musical!

Artists: Draw any characters from the Golden Sun universe participating in a musical! They can be in costume or wearing their regular outfits; your picture can be funny (falling off stage!) or serious (wherefore art thou, Romeo?). Cosplay photos also allowed. Please include in your description all characters' names, as well as the title of the musical chosen, and if applicable, a quote from the scene you drew!

Authors: Write a script for a musical starring the Golden Sun characters of your choice! It could be a romantic tale of a dashing hero and his damsel in distress, or a comedic high school farce - AU is welcome! Can be just one scene, as an excerpt; including lyrics to an original song earns one extra vote! 100+ words allowed; must be in some form of script format (no quotation marks, indented dialog, stage direction).

Here are some that might interest the artists or inspire the authors (but you can choose any musical movie or Broadway show!):

Hello everybody!! here, don't worry, the club's not dead or anything. I've just been super-busy these past few weeks, and I still will be for a little while longer, so thanks for being patient! We have some new members whom I have not added to our list yet, but welcome anyway! ;3

We should start thinking about Contest #13 - does anyone have theme ideas they'd like to try? If we start it during September and end in October, would Halloween be an interesting one? Thanksgiving? Christmas? Fall or Winter? Back to School? Anything else more interesting that you'd like to try...?

Hello everyone!! I'm terribly sorry for the temporary inactivity! But the club is back on track! I should have gotten to everyone's submissions and membership applications - if I missed anyone, be sure to note me again! ^_^

Our contest 11 was an incredible success, so once again, thank you everyone! However, we got no suggestions for contest 12. How's this: how many of you would enter a fanfiction contest...? There would be at least one month to write your entries, and there will be a size limit, so they shouldn't be epically long. Is that a yes or a no?

Please comment and let me know! If you'd rather draw pictures, say that too. :3 It helps me decide a theme for everyone.

For the fanfiction contest, I'm thinking I would choose a word or a phrase as the theme, and the story could be anything GS that relates to that theme. (Example, I could say the theme is "balloon" - it could be about Garet buying Mia a balloon for her birthday, it could be Sheba traveling by hot-air balloon, it could be Alex popping a balloon behind Agatio's ear, etc.) <3

For a drawing contest, I'm leaning towards something spring-related. ^_^ Like flowers, greens and pastel colours, new (lighter) outfits, etc.

Well, so far we've had a few new members and submissions are trickling in, but things have been very laid-back. We'll be starting a contest in a month, so don't be too lazy! ^^ Not with the tantalizing promise of a third GS game in the future... Thank you, Camelot. :3

<sub>As to what medium! Our members were evenly split between wanting to draw, and wanting to write a fanfiction, so here's our compromise:

BOTH drawings AND fics are accepted in this contest.
You may enter one of each, should you choose.
When voting time comes, you will be given one vote for pics, one vote for fics, to make it even.
There will be a prize for each category, but you can only win one! <3

Specifics:

Artwork: can contain any characters from the Golden Sun universe - playable, NPC, deceased, side characters, monsters, summons, etc. Sorry, no made-ups please!

You must relate your image to the theme "April Showers Bring May Flowers" - but it does not have to be literal! Simply explain in your description what your inspiration was!

Here are a few ideas to get you started (you could use one of these, or by all means, come up with your own!):

Kay and her flower gardens
Mia using Douse to create rain
Felix and Piers sharing an umbrella
Ivan looking at a calendar
Perhaps you just want to use a Springtime colour palette, of pastel greens and violets?

This is an open theme, so be as creative as you can be!!

Prose: word count is a maximum of 1500, with no minimum. That's a short story, so don't be intimidated! As with artwork, any and all characters from Golden Sun can be used: playable, NPC, deceased, side characters, monsters, summons, etc. - just no made-ups, please. There are certainly enough characters in Golden Sun to work with without needing your own!

Your storyline is up to you - keep it PG-13, of course, so no graphic violence/sex or strong language. However, implying any of these things is welcome. You do NOT have to use the theme as a quote if you do not want to. You also can if you so choose. This theme is very open, so please interpret it at will!

All genres are open, so romance, a fight scene, a friendship story, a flashback, or whatever else you come up with, is completely welcome.

Here are a few ideas to inspire you (you can use one of these if you'd like, or come up with your own):

Garet struggling to find the perfect bouquet of flowers for his crush
Mia is caught in an April rainstorm, and it reminds her of a memory of Alex
Karst trying to understand why humans create pointless flower gardens
Felix and Sheba travel around to see the spring countryside in different places

Also, all you clever authors, keep in mind that the quote does not have to mean anything about flowers. It can also be interpreted alongside "It is always darkest before the dawn", or as an allegory to new beginnings! Do you have your ideas now...?
